Katka Adams was born in Prague and moved to Australia as a political refugee when Czechoslovakia was invaded by Russia in 1968. She lived in Melbourne and Sydney before moving to Clunes, a village in the Northern Rivers of NSW where she is now based.
Katka has a Bachelor of Visual Art from Sydney College of the Arts as well as a Certificate in Painting and Certificate 2 in Drawing Fundamentals with distinction from the Northern Rivers Institute of TAFE
As an established full time artist she exhibits regularly in group exhibitions, has been selected as a finalist for art awards including JADA, Prometheus, Adelaide Perry, Stanthorpe, Kedumba and the Hurford Hardwood Portrait Prize, as well as having solo exhibitions at the Regional Gallery level.
Katka has been awarded numerous art prizes including several for best in show, people’s choice and over 20 first prizes for drawing and pastels.
