I was born in Prague and moved to Australia as a political refugee shortly after Czechoslovakia was invaded by Russia. After living in Melbourne and Sydney I moved to Lismore in 1984. My home and studio are in the hinterland village of Clunes among the northern rivers of New South Wales.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Art from Sydney College of the Arts and completed Certificates in Painting and Drawing Fundamentals from the Northern Rivers Institute of TAFE.

Over the years I have attended workshops to develop my art practice with artists; Lucy Culliton, Godwin Bradbeer, Elizabeth Cummings, Rene Bolten, Louise Feneley, Susan Archer, David Fairbairn, Roland Weight, Angus McDonald and Ian Pearson.

I’ve had fifteen solo exhibitions, and participate in group exhibitions nationally.

My work has been selected for art awards including JADA, Prometheus, Adelaide Perry, Stanthorpe, Kedumba and the Hurford Hardwood Portrait Prize

I  have received seventy art prizes for drawing, painting, people’s choice and best in show.
